Stripped Coralroot Photo chosen for Canadian postage stamp

Canada Post issued a set of four definitive stamps in 2010 featuring orchids that grow in Canada. My photo of the striped coralroot orchid was chosen to appear on one of the four stamps and a variety of postal products in 2010-11

"The Striped Coralroot (Corallorhiza striata), named for its heaps of coral-like roots and distinctive red striping, comes to life on the domestic Permanent stamp", notes Danielle Trottier, Manager of Stamp Design and Production at Canada Post

For the collector, a souvenir sheet incorporating the four orchid stamps. "Each stamp features a photograph that shows off the elegant, sculpted blooms and vivid shades for which orchids are famous"

A limited edition collectable First Day Cover incorporating the souvenir sheet. Cancelled in Flowers Cove, Newfoundland on the Issue Date of January 11, 2010

About Us

Over 30 years ago, Nick DiOrio and Doug Zimmerman moved a restored Airstream to a nice spot below Camel Rock and began developing a remote homestead. Doug has been photographing this area since arriving. The galleries display a collection of these images. We hope that they convey a sense of our awe and appreciation for this special place

I enjoy hiking and finding the images that I photograph in their natural state illuminated by the sun

Award winning Palm Press has been selling my "Frog & Water Lily" image on greeting cards worldwide for over 6 years
